FIM Junior Motocross World Championship
KTM Junior SX/MX Team rider Blake Wharton added another victory to his list of achievements as he captured the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship on Sunday August 12th.
Blake started the event in his typical dominating fashion by setting the fastest lap time of the day during Saturday's qualifying. By setting the lead lap time Blake was awarded first gate pick for Sunday's main event.
The Sevlievo Motocross track, recognized as one of the world's best motocross tracks due largely in part to its incredible high-speed up and down hills, was the perfect setting for the World Championship race. Wharton astonished the European crowd as he grabbed the holeshot in the first moto and continued to move forward eventually pulling an eight second gap on Great Britain's second place finisher Stephen Clark.
Blake began the second moto in 8th position which forced him to put his head down and charge through the pack to gain ground on the leader. Blake pushed hard and eventually worked his way up to fourth within the first few laps. It was then that he was able to set his site on leader Alessandro Lupino. Blake again shocked the crowd as he quickly caught the Yamaha rider and secured the pass for the second moto win and overall championship.
I'm happy to have won both motos," exclaimed Wharton after winning the championship, "I am thankful for the opportunity to bring home the championship for the USA and KTM."
A very excited Team Manager, Selvaraj Narayana, stated, "I am proud to have Blake as a member of our team and of his success at this event. Blake is the second American rider to bring home the FIM Motocross World Championship for KTM."

Team Royal Distributing Stoneridge KTM Canada
After a long break in the series, team Royal Distributing Stoneridge KTM Canada was ready to race. Moncton, New Brunswick's National track Riverglade was flawlessly prepared and packed with Motocross fans ready to cheer on the fastest riders in the Country.
As the gate dropped for the first moto of the day current point leader Royal Distributing Stoneridge KTM Canada's Michael Willard nailed the Royal Distributing Holeshot and rocketed towards an easy win over and fellow rivals on his powerful KTM 250 SX-F. Royal Distributing Stoneridge KTM Canada rider Tim Tremblay got a great top 5 start, but had a small get off early in the moto and was unable to catch the leaders by the checkered flag. Tremblay regrouped and charged back to 5th place.
MX1 got underway with KTM Canada's Mason Phillips rounding the Royal Distributing 1st corner in 4th place. Orange Motorsports KTM backed Phillips was 7th by moto end. Marco Dube suffered an issue on the start straight and was at the back of the pack as the field completed the first lap.
The Amsoil KTM Canada rider then put on an incredible charge through the pack, passing riders
left and right eventually getting into the top 13 at the end of the
moto. Royal Distributing Stoneridge rider Matt Barnes was back
in action for the first time since his injury during the first round.
Barnes rode very well but suffered some bad luck with a
couple of minor mistakes and rode to a 21st place finish in the
first moto and bettered that in the second moto with a 17th.
Royal Distributing Stoneridge KTM Canada Michael Willard lined
up for the final MX2 moto of the day looking for yet another win, and as the pack rounded the first turn it was the #11 of Willard
coming away with another Royal Distributing holeshot.
Tim Tremblay was not far behind in 4th place and things were looking great for the team. Half way through the moto the teamwork of Royal Distributing Stoneridge KTM Canada was
really put to the test as the machine of Michael Willard was
forced to do a pit stop to repair a flat tire.
Losing a few but precious seconds meant a huge charge
during the last few laps of the race for Willard; who amazingly was able to come back to 7th by the checkers. Although disappointed not to go 1-1 Michael Willard showed
determination and skill as he placed his Royal Distributing Stoneridge KTM Canada 250 SX-F on the podium in 3rd place overall for the weekend.

Uncle Bart,
My race on Saturday was good, although I had a bad start again. The Le Mans thing is not my favorite and so I ended up quite far behind the other 10 girls off the start.
I rode slow in the beginning and it took a while until I found my pace. the track was awesome, we rode on the MX track twice in one lap, there was woods, a downhill rocky and slippery creek and an even more slippery tunnel. then some enduro stuff with a not too difficult rock garden and tiny logs.
I stopped for gas after an hour and was still fully motivated and not tired. My pit crew (Andreas) showed me the split to the girls in front of me and I managed to catch two of them in the second half of the race. I crashed several times and got stuck in mud holes as I tried to pass the girl in 6th position, but I also caught her on the last lap and finished 6th.
I was lucky and had my suspension serviced and adjusted before the race - what a difference a suspension makes, wow!
And for my pit crew: I would have been able to charge again, if it wasn't for the track side support.
And to complete the success, Andreas won his race, which was a first-ever win of a twin cylinder in the 4stroke class. I'm so proud of him!
Hope all is well with you and your family, please say Hello to Patrick!
Thanks for your support,
V
